Activities in the local area

Coast, Beach, and Waterpark
 

Lac de L'Escourou 18km is a wonderful nature reserve to walk around.  There is canoe hire and paddle boarding available in the summer.

Blasimon Lake 34 km away is a freshwater lake with a sandy beach and is a popular attraction, great for children. The gently shelving sand provides a safe, fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun.

46 km can be found south-east of Villefranche-de-Lonchat with canoeing, peddle boats and a great beach, cafes and a separate fishing lake.
 

Aqua Park is 42km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing, and a water park.

Aqua fun Park Near Casteljaloux freshwater lake, 44km. Park with a huge lake, picnic benches, walks, facilities, a sandy beach, water sports and a kid’s play area.
 

Dune du Pilat Europe’s largest sand dune 138km, where both the climb and the views will astound you. Nearby you’ll find the bay of Arcachon where fresh seafood restaurants can be found, and the ferry to Cap Ferret to continue the beach experience whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine watching the sunsets.

Cycling: The perfect place for cycling from our property.  Enjoy many rides of less than an hour, past orchards and vineyards to pretty local villages to explore and enjoy a coffee or a glass.  Many routes run along the river dropt valley. The serious cyclist will enjoy long stretches of road with challenging hills to get the blood pumping.  Views are guaranteed for all.  Bike hire companies will deliver to the door.

Good Turn Cycles in Eymet do standard and electric bikes.

Freewheeling France show a great cycle route including Levignac de Guyenne. There are many route planning sites for further ideas.  We can help with local ideas for the shorter trips!

Tennis courts are located in Lévignac-de-Guyenne, Monsegur, Saint-Vivien-de-Monségur, Duras and St Sernin de Duras.  They are usually booked via the tourist information office.  This is something we can arrange for you.

Canoeing in the Dropt Valley 14km rents canoes and kayaks The river Dropt winds through the valley and generally run nice and slowly.

Canoe hire 32km on the Dordogne river at Port St Foy.  Big river with a faster flow.

Golf de Marmande
22km offers you a 10 hole flat and wooded course which revolves around a two-hectare lake.  It has a driving range and practice area.

Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 26km.  27 hole championship course with an academy course and driving range. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set on 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant, bistro and a relaxing beauty spa.

Golfe de Barthe at Tomberboeuf 29km created in 1988 a challenging 9 hole course surrounded by farms and rolling countryside.  It has a bar, daily specials and light snacks.

Melly Golf 10km is a fun little pitch and putt at Castelnau-sur-Gupie.  They have some small farm arnimals and drinks and snacks are also available.

Jardin de Boissona 10km has six pretty gardens, and a tea-room well known for their teas and delicious cakes.

Parc du Griffon 6km has many species of animals, some you can pet, play areas, and snack bar.  There are plenty of activities for everyone including some amazing water slides.

 

Wine tasting

 

There are so many options but here’s a few!
Maison des Vins Duras is a great starting place.  They hold many wines from the local producers, have staff who speak english and you can try and buy wines here.  They often have tasting events, please check out their website for dates.  On their website there is a page Carte de l'appellation Duras where you can find all of the local vineyards and their websites.

Berticot are a wine cooperative just on the northern edge of Duras.  Here you will be able to taste wines of the region made with locally grown grapes.

  • Eymet – Marché nocturne – centred around Place Gambetta and a combination of the local restaurants, food trucks and a few souvenir and crafts stalls

Wednesday

  • Monségur – Marché nocturne – centered around the beautiful La Halle (market hall) at Place Robert Darniche with good selection of food and drinks

Thursday

  • Duras – Marchés nocturnes - one of the largest night markets filling the two central squares, Place du 11 Novembre and Place Jean Bousquet. Great selection of food and drinks, always live music and often with a light show on the beautiful chateau walls

  • Issigeac – Marché gourmand – Issigeac is really stunning circular bastide town

  • Villeneuve-de-Duras – Marchés Gourmands - set at La Halle

Friday

  • Lévignac-de-Guyenne – Marché nocturne – the nearest markets from our house – and definitely also one of our favorites! Beautiful setting around Place de la Halle and the old market hall. Good selection of food and drinks and usually a combination of live music and a local DJ with lots of dancing.

  • La Sauvetat-du-Dropt – Marché gourmande  – set at La Prairie – the green area between the village and the Dropt River – this is another nice and cozy night market with a very local feel, good food and drinks and always with live music.

Saturday

  • Saint-Sernin-de-Duras – Marchés Gourmands with music and DJ

  • Lauzun – Tables Gourmandes –  with live music

Sunday

  • Soumensac – Marché des producteurs – set at Chemin de Ronde, the path along the outside of the village, this LUNCHTIME (11-14.30) summer market offers a beautiful view from its elevated position and a good selection of local food and drinks.  This is one of our favourites.

  • Castillonès – Soirées Gourmands – set at Place des Cornière and with live music from 8pm.

Opening times vary on public holidays. They maybe open in the morning on a holiday day, please check.

Carrefour Contact supermarket in Duras 8km, Monsegur 11km, Eymet 21km - 8am to 8pm nonstop from Mondays to Saturdays. Sundays from 9-1pm

E.Leclerc Hypermarket plus other supermarkets and retail shops in Marmande 17km.

E.Leclerc Hypermarket in Pineuilh near Sainte Foy la Grande 28km.

Lamourache Nord Gites are in the beautiful Lot et Garonne countryside, atop a hill close to the regions of the Dordogne and Gironde.  Surrounded by plum orchards and sunflowers.  A truly beautiful place.
